Uptown Park Ridge Announces Final Homes, Prepares to Welcome New Retailers
As downtown Park Ridge prepares to open its doors to four new retailers, Edward R. James Homes is offering for sale its final homes at The Residences of Uptown Park Ridge. The mixed- use community features a total of 189 residences as well as 85,000 square feet of shops and restaurants in the heart of Park Ridge.
Located at Northwest Highway and Touhy Avenue, The Residences of Uptown Park Ridge is being developed by PRC Partners Ð a partnership of Edward R. James Homes, LLC, Mid-America Asset Management, Inc. and Valenti Builders. Remaining condominiums include one-bedroom, two-bedroom, two-bedroom-plus-den and three-bedroom floor plans with two to three baths. The homes, which will be ready for move in later this summer, range in size from 1,145 to 2,539 square feet and are priced from the $350,000's to the upper $700,000's.
"As the downtown redevelopment nears completion, it's exciting to see our vision for a pedestrian- friendly, mixed-use community that retains the historic character of Park Ridge come to life and be so well received by residents and buyers," said Jerry James, president of Edward R. James Homes. "Despite the current market, Uptown Park Ridge has enjoyed swift sales and welcomed many top-tier national retailers. Buyers can feel confident that they are buying into a development and community that is dedicated to enriching the lives of its residents."
While the remaining condominiums vary in size and layout, all feature an open floor plan and at least one private balcony or terrace. In addition, each residence includes high-end finishes such as stainless steel appliances; granite countertops in the kitchen; Wood-Mode¨ Brookhaven cabinets in the kitchen and baths; Kohler plumbing fixtures; and wood flooring in the kitchen, foyer, breakfast room and powder room, per plan.
"The architecture of Uptown Park Ridge blends seamlessly with the historic character of the downtown area, yet each residence boasts modern amenities, sophisticated finishes and an abundance of space that rivals that of some single-family homes," said James.
For example, most of the remaining two-bedroom homes feature a den located off the main living area, which is ideal for a home office or can easily be converted into an extra bedroom for overnight guests. Some of the homes also feature a separate dining area adjacent to the kitchen that includes a pantry for extra storage.
In addition to providing new residential offerings, securing national retailers that would complement the downtown retail mix was an important component of the downtown development.
The Shops of Uptown, which comprises the first-floor retail space below the lofts and condominiums, is now home to Trader Joe's, Chicos, Jos. A. Bank, Lens Crafter's Optique and Chicago-based Kriser's pet boutique. Residents will also enjoy the arrival of Noodles & Co., Jason's Deli and Houlihan's later this summer.
"Park Ridge offers a strong demographic, prime location and convenient parking for national retailers looking to increase their presence in the northwest suburbs," said James. "However, it wasn't until the development of Uptown Park Ridge that these national retailers had the space necessary to bring their stores to our community. Now residents can walk to the grocery store to pick up last-minute ingredients or meet friends after work for dinner, without ever having to worry about getting in their cars. It makes for a very lively, urban-feeling suburban downtown experience."
These new retail and restaurant offerings join an established group of downtown merchants, including one-of-a-kind boutiques, cafes and family-run businesses that have long attracted residents to Park Ridge. In addition, the historic Pickwick Theater and the Park Ridge Public Library are located directly across the street.
Adding to downtown Park Ridge's pedestrian-friendly atmosphere, residents of Uptown Park Ridge will enjoy having the Park Ridge Metra Station a mere 200 yards from their front door. "Residents can be in downtown Chicago within 30 minutes, which is perfect for buyers who commute to the city on a daily basis or enjoy heading downtown on the weekends," noted James.
To visit Uptown Park Ridge, take Interstate 94 and exit at Touhy Avenue. Head west on Touhy Avenue for approximately four miles. Turn right at Northwest Highway. The sales center is located on the right at 50 N. Northwest Highway #309. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. For more information on Uptown Park Ridge, please call (847) 698-3635 or visit www.uptownparkridge.com.
